Fire Lighting

Camp Fire Circle

What do I find there?
The track through the woods leads you to the Fort William compound where there are a number of huts, the main cabin having two rooms of six bunks each, and the toilet block. Water has to be carried from here to individual camp sites. There are about 15 glades cleared in the wood to make space for camping. Some are patrol size and others are big enough for a troop camp or larger events. Most of them have space allocated for an open fire. There is also a campfire circle that can be used by any one.

The remaining part of the woods is undeveloped and can be used to experience backwoods, bivouac or survival techniques.

When can I use it?
Anytime during the week or at weekends. At times during the winter some glades may not be in use to allow them to recover before the summer season.

What Activities are there?
There are no provided activities on site. The woodland can be used for backwoods and woodland craft as well as an introduction to camping.
