I am still searching for another trophy to borrow for the exhibition on 100 years of Hertfordshire Scouting later this year.  The Scout Fellowship Trophy was designed and carved in hardwood by John Hudson and launched in 1982 by Colin Limming then ACC (SF).  It is has three interlocking rings.  These represent : Duty to God and Queen: Helping other people : The Scout Law.  I did appeal for this about a year ago but there was no response.  If it has now surfaced could the holder please contact me.

April Archive Jottings

This month is full of anniversaries and some are listed here.

10 April 1916.  The first registered Wolf Cub Pack in Hertfordshire, 2 South West Herts (2 Oxhey), met in the Parish Hall, Pinner Road, Oxhey.  The CM was A.G.Cooper and there were 15 Wolf Cubs at this first meeting.

14 April 1908, The Scout, a weekly paper for boys was launched.  It ran without a break through two world wars for 58 years, becoming the longest running weekly magazine for boys in the world and in all that time had only four editors.  Haydn Dimmock also a Hertfordshire Scout was the editor for 36 years from 1919 to 1954, a world record for an editor of a Boy`s Newspaper.  The County Scout Museum at Well End is named in his memory and was opened on 14 July 1957.  When “Dim” died in 1955, it brought much sorrow to the world of Scouting.
