In fact, I would go so far as to say we can always find something to celebrate – from a Beaver receiving their first ever badge to start them on their Scouting journey, through to a Network member receiving a Queen’s Scout Award to show a young person really has reached the top, we can always find time to celebrate our successes. We should also take time to celebrate the achievements of our adult leaders and supporters. In addition, each and every one of you make such a difference to the lives of young people and that, in itself, is cause for celebration.
As look forward to 2017 I want to take the opportunity to say a big thank for everything you do and for all for your support to make amazing things happen. We are moving well towards our goal of growing in Hertfordshire to 20,000 by 2020 and it’s through an exciting and challenging programme for our young people. We have made great progress but there is always more to do on being even more youth led and inclusive although I’m proud to say that we have opened some new groups across the County and have made great strides in being more involved with our communities. We are driving to have at least 50% of our programme on outdoor adventure and gaining skills to make use of the facilities the County has to offer.
I hope you get to spend time with your families and friends over the festive period and celebrate the slide into the New Year. We will do great things again in 2017, of that I’m sure, and it is all down to the amazing volunteers and our County and Activity Centre staff that make great things happen.
Thank you for what you do and thank you for the amazing year to come.
