Many will know, the County Executive are looking at ways to upgrade facilities at Well End and, more importantly, to build a new sleepover centre to replace the Warren.

A Steering Group has been established and over the last few months has been seeking ideas for this new building.

Whilst nothing has been fully decided, a provisional design, including all the ideas put forward, has been sketched and these drawings are available for all to see on the Well End web site. During October, the Steering Group took the ideas to three locations around the County as well as holding an open evening at Well End. This gave leaders the opportunity to see the plans and discuss the proposals with us.

We are looking at providing a building which will sleep 44 but with the ability to be divided in two, for smaller groups. All facilities will be available to both sides and one kitchen will be able to provide for 100+ so the larger groups with camping included can be provided for.

The design has been developed with Cubs and Beavers in mind, to provide them with accommodation on a County site without too many frills. This obviously does not preclude any other members enjoying the facilities. We are also hoping that the building will be attractive to other organisations, especially for weekday bookings.
