Updated: Mar 30, 2021
Update following revised guidance for meetings from March 29: Following the revisions to the guidance provided by the Scouts and NYA to remove the cap of 15 on any individual section meeting we have amended our procedures. Sections will now be able to book multiple bubbles to cover the numbers required for their section to meet, for example a group with 24 young people will be allocated 2 bubbles and the associated resources.
The total number of bubbles available at the centres will remain the same at the present time, however this will be kept under continuous review. Harmergreen will be available to 1 section booking in any 1 session, rather than 1 bubble of 15.
All other procedures remain the same until further relevant guidance is published.
With the publication of the Government roadmap to the easing of Covid-19 related restrictions, along with the initial sector specific guidance from the National Youth Authority (NYA) and updates to Scouts “Getting Back Together Safely” framework, we can now set out our plans for the re-opening of our Hertfordshire Scouts Activity Centres.
As you read these plans, please remember that dates will be subject to confirmation from the Government and NYA and that the supporting guidance notes for the later stages are still being developed. For Scout users, please read in conjunction with the latest updates – link.
29 March 2021: Limited re-opening for local Scout groups to support the resumption of face-to-face Scouting. Details of the arrangements for this phase have been sent directly to Hertfordshire Scouts leaders.
12 April 2021: Open to Scout users, focussing on Scout Group bookings, with a phased re-introduction of selected activities as Covid safe operating procedures are developed. Day visits only, no residential bookings.
29 April 2021: Open to GirlGuiding users, subject to the prevailing guidance from Girlguiding.
17 May 2021: Indicative date for the resumption of residential experiences – please note the guidance for this phase is yet to be published. Current advice is to plan to stay local, have a non-residential alternative and not to make booking commitments before guidance is clarified.
21 June 2021: Indicative date for the resumption of non-residential delivery for educational users and other youth organisations.
This first phase is focussed on supporting the effective resumption of face-to-face outdoor activities at a group level, rather than larger events. These will return in line with national guidance at a later date.
The principles behind the plan:
Our re-opening plan is guided by the prevailing regulations at the time, dates are indicative not fixed.
We have an overarching risk assessment and operating procedures to ensure we are Covid safe, please ensure you have familiarised yourself with these as compliance to them will be a condition of any booking. These will be available on the downloads page of each centre’s website.
Activities available will be dependent upon the development of Covid safe operating procedures and existing programmes carried forward from prior bookings are likely to have to be changed.
Should you have an existing booking up to the end of August 2021 and these plans mean that we cannot deliver to your expectations, you can request a deposit refund or transfer to a later date from our bookings team.
Thank you for your continued support for Hertfordshire Scouts activity centres, we are excited to be welcoming you back over the coming months.
