Dates: Friday 17th – Sunday 19th November 2017

Location: Phasels Wood

The Green Beret Challenge is a full day’s competition for teams of six.

To achieve the Green Beret Challenge, teams compete in FOUR elements: Orienteering, Assault Course, Challenge Incidents (Daytime) and a Night Exercise.

The Challenge is designed to test a Scouts through a range of physical and intellectual activities. It can also prove to be a significant challenge to their Leadership and Teamwork skills.

No doubt about it, IT’S TOUGH!! However, you can survive, provided you are prepared for the weather and trained beforehand.

We will be trialling a new way of communicating the final results in order to save money and the environment by not copying reams of paper.  Our scoring team are in the test mode of this at present and I will report back at the September meeting.

I would also like to appoint an official photographer / social media team member.  If you know of anyone who would be willing to take this up, please ask them to contact me via the Green Beret e-mail.

Subject to the number of team member requiring sleeping accommodation, we may be in position to offer a limited number of beds in the indoor accommodation.  It will be on a first come basis and will cost £6.00 per night.  More information on this at the September ADC meeting.

Please direct all contact, queries, info requests, etc to greenberet@hertfordshirescouts.org.uk.

FANCY RUNNING A BASE?

As well as applying to take part – Green Beret relies on volunteer run bases. Staff on the bases can be from any section in Scouting from Beaver Leaders to Active Support Members and the organisers will again welcome Explorer Scouts to attend and provide bases. There will be an Explorer Sub-camp, and all Explorers and Leaders who provide bases will receive the Green Beret badge for 2017. There will also be no camp fees for Explorers and Leaders who attend just to provide bases.

If you are interested in running, or helping to run a base, please see the below links for more information and an application form.
