Norfolk Broads Sailing Weekend

Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th June 2017

Fancy a weekend sailing on the Norfolk Boards onboard a traditional Cabin yacht or an open Half Decker boat from the famous Hunter Fleet? Then this is the weekend for you…

What’s the plan?

We will spend the weekend sailing the rivers and broads of Norfolk. The plan will be to take our small armada of boats up the River Thurne, under the bridge at Potter Heigham and then explore Hickling Broad and Horse Meer.

Who can go?

Everyone is welcome (as long as you’re a member of a Scout Network!) This weekend will give those who can sail an opportunity to try sailing something different from a modern dingy and for those that are new to sailing it will be a great taster into the joys of messing about in boats…..

How much will it cost   ?

Only £50 for Hertfordshire Scouters which covers the boat hire, breakfast & lunch. (We will stop at a suitable hostelry for the evening meal – you will need to bring some money to buy this yourself)

What boats will we be using?

We are hiring traditional wooden boats. In our fleet we will have one cabin yacht, three open half decker boats and a small river launch.

You can see them at www.huntersyard.co.uk

Where will we sleep?

We will be sleeping on the boats! All the boats are equipped for sail camping.

What do I need to bring?

The important things to bring are warm clothes, hats, gloves and waterproofs .You will also need to bring your normal camping stuff (Sleeping bag , carry mat, wash kit etc). The boats come equipped with buoyancy aids.

I want to come along – what do I have to do next?
