STAYING SAFE - MANANGING A SAFE SCOUT PREMISES

Ensuring all Scouting premises are safe for our Young People by adopting a risk assessment approach to manage any premises.

Introduction

Everyone owes a common law duty of care to not cause injury to another person or to damage another’s property. In Scouting terms, for example, this might mean a Scout Group informing a party of volunteers about the potential hazards of their HQ during a spring cleaning day and about any hazards they may be introducing in the form of chemicals or equipment.

Trustees make sure that your Group is well managed, risks are assessed and mitigated, buildings and equipment are in good working order, and everyone follows legal requirements and Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR). Their support helps your Section Teams run a fantastic programme that gives young people Skills For Life (and experiences they’ll remember forever).

Hertfordshire Scout's Safety Team is made up of key team members within the County. They each have knowledge and understanding within a specific area. They are able to help you manage any Scout premises you may have.
